My day usually begins with...

 

I poke my head out from under the covers when I hear Mum getting up and then I go back to sleep until she tells me it’s time to go to work with her. She gets up real early and I’m still pretty tired but by the time we get to work I’m awake and full of beans and I want everyone to throw my big orange ball and play with me.

 

and ends with...

 

I’m pretty tuckered from being a big business boy all day and Mum takes me to the beach after work where I ignore all the other dogs but show them how good I am at catching the ball. I’m very good at catching the ball.

 

How long have you been part of the Go Native team?

 

Literally my whole life.

 

What's something people would be surprised to learn about your job?

 

I have a very important job actually, my job is to make sure nobody in the office loses track of the big orange ball. I put it right in their lap if they look like they’ve lost it. I like it when they throw it away and then I have to bring it back to them as quickly as I can so they don’t get worried that it was lost again.

 

When did you first discover the joys of making your own beauty products?

 

I don’t need beauty products, I’m already a very beautiful boy, Mum and Dad tell me every day.

 

Ingredient you're currently loving?

 

Mum put some tamanu oil on one of my red itches the other day, it smelled a bit funny and I didn’t like standing still while she put it on me but the next day I didn’t have to itch that spot anymore.

 

What’s your favourite ingredient to package?

 

Balls. I package them in my mouth and ship them to under the couch, then I cry until Mum crawls on the floor and gets it out for me. Mum loves getting covered in dust.

 

And recipe?

I like the way bath bombs look like balls but Mum wont let me eat them.

 

And - because we all love a recommendation - are you binge-watching/listening/reading anything good at the moment?

 

Mum and Dad are watching something called Weird Things or Strange Stuff, it's got kids and monsters in it. I think it’s a bit loud and scary but I can curl up under the blanket and they give me cuddles and it’s safe and warm there.

 

Tell us something we'd be surprised to know about you?

 

I used to live in a big concrete room with my brother and sister, some people found us on the street and took us there. I didn’t really like it in there, it was cold and lonely after my brother and sister got taken away but then one day Mum and Dad came to visit me and I jumped up into Mum’s arms and she started to cry and then they took me to my new home. I like it at home.

 

What's the best part of working at Go Native?

 

I like going to work with Mum and I get to see my Noni and Grandad every day. Even when everyone’s pretty boring most of the day, “working” and not throwing the ball for me, I like curling up by the fire and getting some rest so that I’ve got plenty of energy to run on the beach at the end of the day.

Also there are LOTS of smells!
