Basic moisturiser

Basic moisturiser

(Makes 200g)

This is the absolute most basic moisturiser you can make and can be made with any carrier oil. Great if you want to practice or experiment with different oils and which ones work for you and your skin type. The final product will vary according to the oil used, but we have used a variety of oils and the ratios in this recipe have given a satisfactory light cream. So have fun!

Ingredients:

Water Phase

150g water

Oil Phase
26g almond oil
10g emulsifier O

Last Phase
2g preservative (Geogard 221)
few drops of essential oil (optional)

Method:
In separate pots heat both Water Phase and Oil Phase to 65°C. (Make sure the emulsifier in the Oil Phase is completely melted, Oil Phase may heat faster and need to be taken off the heat to cool to 65°C while Water Phase catches up.)
When both are at 65°C pour Oil Phase into Water Phase and blend until thick.
It won't thicken until it cools to around 40°C.
Add Last Phase and blend again.
Spoon into jar/jars.
