Hydrosols can be used in skin care products, replacing some or all of the water portion. Also used as room sprays, to freshen linen, etc.
Geranium hydrosol is a humectant which means it draws moisture from the air and seals it into the top layer of the skin. This makes it excellent for hydrating and moisturising for dry skin.
It is also said to help with cell regeneration making it useful for speeding up the healing of scars, boosting collagen and repairing damaged skin cells.
Its astringent properties help to reduce excess oil, minimise large pores and tighten and tone the skin.
Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it soothing on skin conditions such as acne and eczema and its sweet, floral and fruity scent can have a calming and uplifting effect on mood.
All of these properties make it a fantastic facial toner to help balance oily skin, moisturise dry skin and help with cell regeneration and repair.
Hydrosols can be used as a toner for all skin types as it is impregnated with water-soluble (hydrophilic) compounds that are not present in essential oils. Soothing, anti-inflammatory carboxylic acids are found almost exclusively in hydrosols.
