Description: An evergreen shrub with ash-coloured scaly bark and leathery, thick leaves which are lustrous and dark green above and white underneath.

Colour: pale yellow

Common uses: Its best-known use is as a facial oil for very dry skin. It also nourishes the scalp and keeps hair looking healthy and shiny. It normalises excessive oil secretions and improves most scalp problems, especially dandruff. Rosemary oil is also helpful in treating cellulite, it balances intense emotions and controls mood swings, lifts spirits and counters depression. It can also assist in managing stress and overcoming nervous exhaustion.

Blends well with: basil, bergamot, cedarwood, frankincense, ginger, lemon, orange, peppermint.

Aromatic scent: fresh, woody, herbal mint scent

History: Because it grows close to the sea its name means ‘Dew of the Sea’. Its leaves were traditionally burned in hospitals to purify the air and was used as incense by the ancient Romans.

Cautions: Not suitable for people with epilepsy or high blood pressure. Avoid in pregnancy.
