Menthol crystals
Menthol crystals are a natural product obtained from the essential oil of mint. They are formed by cooling and crystallising the base concentrate, resulting in clear to white solid crystals. At room temperature they remain solid, but they dissolve readily in alcohol, oils, and essential oils, and are only sparingly soluble in water.
Known for their intense minty aroma and cooling effect, menthol crystals bring a refreshing note to formulations. They are widely used in perfumes, balms, creams, lotions, chest rubs, and other cosmetic or personal care products.
About menthol crystals
Menthol crystals are highly concentrated, so only small amounts are needed. They melt easily into liquid formulations and are often incorporated into products designed to feel cooling or refreshing on the skin.
How to use
- Very gently melt crystals gently into alcohol, carrier oils, or essential oils before adding to formulations.
- Typical inclusion levels range from 0.2% to 5%, depending on the desired strength.
- Ideal for DIY balms, ointments, shower steamers, soaps, and cooling body care.
