Mānuka hydrosol is the aromatic water produced during the steam distillation of mānuka (Leptospermum scoparium), a native plant well known in Aotearoa. Gentle and versatile, mānuka hydrosol is often used as a facial toner, particularly for skin that tends towards oiliness or imbalance. About hydrosols
Hydrosols are the pure co-product of the steam distillation of plant material. During essential oil production, water-soluble plant compounds that don’t make it into the oil become suspended in the distillation water. This results in a lightly aromatic, skin-friendly water that can be used directly on the skin or in formulations.
Hydrosols are prized for being gentle, hydrating, and suitable for most skin types, including sensitive skin.
