The baobab tree is found in Africa and reaches heights of 30 metres. Baobab oil is derived from the seeds of the tree and is highly regarded in skincare due to its revitalising, moisturising and restructuring properties as a result of its unique balance of saturated (palmitic) monounsaturated (oleic) and polyunsaturated (linoleic) acids. It has the ability to penetrate deeply into the skin and can help restore the integrity of the skin cell membrane.

Baobab oil is non-irritating and non-drying and can be good for topical application for oily or acne prone skin due to its high percentage of linoleic acid, which can also help in the healing process of sunburn and other skin irritations. It is also  good for dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Baobab oil absorbs easily into the skin, can help improve skin tone, elasticity, and regenerate and renew skin cells.

It is useful also in hair products as it is a natural moisturiser which can help alleviate and smooth dry and flaky scalps. The saturated fats can penetrate deep into the strands to nourish hair, and unsaturated fats can create a smooth film over strands to seal in moisture and act as emollient to help prevent tangles. It is also  helpful for frizz control and is great for use in hair masks.
