Springtime ideas

skyIt's springtime!
A transformation is happening - the wind has stopped blowing and the sun's shining in a cloudless sky - well, some days! And when the sun shines, we want to be outside, enjoying ourselves and looking good…
But most of us end the winter feeling in need of a spruce up, before we abandon those winter clothes for things more revealing.

We’ve got together some suggestions, so an abundance of spring energy and enthusiasm may be yours!

First, a reminder of those things that we all know but find it hard to get around to doing…
Then, some ideas around Go Native products – things to make or buy.

  • Eat lots and lots of veges, especially red and green ones. Raw, cooked – it’s all good.  There’s a new major study showing that skin colour changes when we eat lots of vegetables, and (this is the intriguing part!) people are attracted to those whose skin colour shows they eat lots of veges -  and vege munchers are more attractive than those with tanned skin. Yes, you can become more sexually attractive by eating your veges! I’ve lost the link to the new research – sorry – but here’s a link to a 2011 study that  you may remember from our Facebook page. http://tinyurl.com/nqxomn4

  • Smoothies are a great way of getting your greens. Here’s the recipe for the smoothie Chelsea makes for us each morning before we start on your orders. It’s not a hard and fast thing – you can pretty much put in whatever you find in the fridge! How much preparation you do depends on your blender.

    Ingredients:
  • apple (skin on)
  • banana (fresh or frozen)
  • kiwifruit
  • spinach and/or kale
  • fresh ginger – a few cm
  • orange juice, water
  • ice (if blender can handle it)
  • Blend till smooth!

  • Drink plenty of water – it’s great for the skin. As the weather gets warmer, it’s easy to get dehydrated.
  • Go for a walk (or bike ride, or…) each day. Move those winter blues out of the way by letting your skin make vitamin D from the sunshine.
  • Get your 8 hours of sleep. Sometimes it seems impossible – there is so much to fit in to the day – but a shortage of sleep makes the best beauty routine an uphill battle.  You may find some helpful info here: http://tinyurl.com/nkwlop9

Now some ideas for giving your body some special care
  • To create a mini-spa experience at home, try some of these:
    • Relax with a face mask. Make your own by mixing green clay to a paste, or try one of ours.
    • Soak in a bath with Epsom salts and a few drops of a soothing essential oil.
    • Exfoliate arms, legs, back, elbows, knees – just a facecloth can be very effective, or make our sugar scrub.
    • Apply a pure light cream to your whole body. Make or buy a rosehip moisturiser.
    • Give yourself a manicure and feed nails with a little sesame oil.
    • Treat your hair to a nourishing mask.
Enjoy!
