Benzoin styrax

Benzoin styrax is a rich, resin-derived aromatic known for its warm, sweet, vanilla-like scent and its long history in perfumery and incense. Its thick, golden-brown consistency and naturally lingering aroma make it particularly valued as a base note and fixative in fragrance blends.

Traditionally sourced from trees grown across regions of Asia, benzoin resin is collected by making careful incisions in the bark, allowing the sap to exude and harden before harvesting.

Formulation Notes

Benzoin is a gum resin and naturally quite thick, which can make it more difficult to work with on its own. It blends more easily when first combined with thinner essential oils before being incorporated into your final formulation.

It is commonly used to help anchor and extend the scent of lighter, more volatile oils.

  • 30ml, 50ml, 100ml, 250ml amber glass bottle, with 28 neck white dripulator cap (except for oils that are too thick for a dripulator, which have a black open pour cap).
  • Our bulk volumes of essential oils come in the following packaging
