Milk thistle seed oil is a lightweight, neutral carrier oil valued for its high linoleic acid content and naturally occurring vitamin E. These components play an important role in supporting a healthy skin barrier, making this oil particularly well suited to dry, sensitive, or compromised skin.

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) belongs to the Asteraceae plant family, which also includes sunflower and daisy. One of its notable compounds is silymarin, a group of flavonoids that is said to support skin comfort and help protect the skin from environmental stressors and the visible effects of environmental exposure, including UV light. This does not replace the need for a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Milk thistle seed oil is commonly used in formulations designed to support the appearance of even skin tone, help balance oil production, and support skin elasticity. It is often included in facial oils, serums, and light emulsions where a non-greasy skin feel is desired.

Clear to pale yellow in colour with a very mild odour, this oil blends easily with other carrier oils and active ingredients, making it a versatile choice for both face and body formulations.
