Description: The teatree is a small shrub with needle-like leaves. It can grow up to 7m and thrives in marshy areas, though now it is cultivated in plantations. It is a very robust tree.

History: Teatree oil has a long history of use in the aromatherapy field. In WW11, the producers of teatree oil were exempt from military service until enough oil had been accumulated. The oil was highly valued as it was issued to each soldier and sailor as part of their kit.

Strength of aroma: medium

Common uses

Aromatherapy: Teatree essential oil is often used in aromatherapy to create a soothing and refreshing environment. Its invigorating scent can help improve mood, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.

Insect repellent: Some people use teatree essential oil as a natural insect repellent. Its strong scent can help deter insects like mosquitoes, ants, and flies. However, its effectiveness in this regard may vary.

Cleaning agent: Teatree essential oil is said to be a popular choice for natural household cleaning. It can be added to DIY cleaning solutions to help disinfect surfaces and eliminate germs.

Laundry: Adding a few drops of teatree oil to your laundry can help eliminate musty odours and provide a pleasant, natural scent to your clothes and linens.

Air freshener: Teatree oil can be used to create homemade air fresheners that can help purify the air in your living spaces.

Safety data: Very potent and not to be used on sensitive skin. Avoid use during pregnancy.
