Design Your Own Perfume
Design Your Own Perfume
Designing your own signature scent is easy, you just follow your nose! This DIY herbal perfume recipe uses essential oils, for three complimentary notes. Traditional perfume blends are structured around three complementary layers of scent.
The perfect balance contains:
- Base notes (20%) – The deepest and longest-lasting elements of the fragrance, providing richness and longevity.
- Middle notes (50%) – The heart of the perfume, creating harmony and linking the brightness of the top notes with the depth of the base.
- Top notes (30%) – The lightest and most volatile aromas, detected first upon application before gradually unfolding into the deeper layers beneath.
For beginners it's recommended starting out with a maximum of three essential oils and work up to more complex blends as you get more confident. A curated fragrance guide is included below to assist with inspiration.
