Aloe vera extract, certified organic, 200:1 (Brown)
Gentle, soothing and hydrating, aloe vera is one of the most versatile ingredients in natural skincare. It's commonly used to help soothe dry or irritated skin, provide lightweight hydration and leave the skin feeling soft and refreshed. Aloe vera is a popular addition to facial serums, moisturisers, gels, masks, after-sun products, body care and hair care formulations.
This is a 200:1 powdered aloe vera extract. It is highly concentrated, so a tiny amount makes a lot of aloe juice.
Please note: This batch is naturally brown in colour and may darken the finished colour of creams, lotions, gels and other formulations compared with our standard off-white organic aloe vera extract. Natural variations in colour can occur between batches depending on factors such as the origin of the aloe and the drying process used during manufacture.
What "200:1" means
0.5% powder in water ≈ 100% aloe vera juice (by equivalency).
Example: 0.5g powder + 99.5g water → 100g aloe juice
Example: 5g powder + 995g water → 1,000g (1L) aloe juice
Use the reconstituted aloe juice just like regular aloe juice: in gels, spritzers, creams, lotions, after-sun products, hair care and more.
How to use
To make aloe vera juice
- Add the measured powder to room-temperature water (distilled or deionised).
- Whisk or stick-blend until dissolved; leave 10–15 minutes to fully hydrate.
- Use immediately, or preserve if storing (see “Storage & preservation”).
In formulations
-
Water phase (heated): add aloe juice to the water phase after you remove from heat (≤50 °C) or at cool-down to protect delicate components.
-
Cold process: simply stir the aloe juice in at room temperature.
-
Use level: aloe juice can replace some or all of the water in a formula (up to 100% of your water phase if you wish).
-
Adding powder directly: you can add the powder straight into the water phase. As a guide, 0.25% powder ≈ 50% aloe juice, 0.1% powder ≈ 20% aloe juice, etc.
Formulating tip
Aloe contains electrolytes which can thin some carbomer gels. If your gel softens, switch to a more electrolyte-tolerant gelling agent (e.g., xanthan) or adjust your polymer system.
Storage & preservation
-
Powder: keep tightly closed, cool, dry, away from light.
-
Reconstituted juice: treat like fresh aloe juice — preserve with your usual broad-spectrum system (e.g. Microcare DB as directed) or refrigerate and use promptly. Unpreserved juice is for immediate/short-term use only.
