Aloe vera extract, certified organic, 200:1 (Off-white)

A highly concentrated 200:1 organic aloe vera extract, made from 100% aloe vera inner leaf gel and spray-dried into a fine, creamy white powder.

Aloe vera is widely used in skincare for its soothing, hydrating and skin-conditioning properties. It is particularly well suited to formulations for dry, sensitive or irritated-feeling skin, and can be incorporated into facial mists, serums, gels, creams, lotions, after-sun products, cleansers and hair care.

This extract is made specifically from the inner leaf gel of Aloe barbadensis miller and contains 100% aloe vera gel. Its pale colour makes it particularly useful when formulating products where you don't want your aloe extract to significantly affect the colour of the finished product.

It contains a minimum of 8% aloverose and has a very low aloin limit of ≤0.1 ppm in a 0.5% solution.

What “200:1” means

This is a highly concentrated extract, so only a tiny amount is needed.

0.5% powder in water ≈ 100% aloe vera juice (by equivalency).

• 0.5 g powder + 99.5 g water → 100 g aloe juice
• 5 g powder + 995 g water → 1,000 g (1 L) aloe juice

Once reconstituted, use the aloe juice just like regular aloe juice in gels, spritzers, serums, creams and lotions, after-sun products, hair care and more.

How to use

To make aloe vera juice

1. Add the measured powder to room-temperature distilled or deionised water.
2. Whisk or stick-blend until dissolved, then leave for 10–15 minutes to fully hydrate.
3. Use immediately, or preserve if storing (see Storage & Preservation).

In formulations

• Water phase (heated): Add the aloe juice after removing the water phase from heat (≤50°C), or during cool-down. The powder is heat-sensitive, so adding it at lower temperatures helps protect the extract.
• Cold process: Stir the aloe juice into the formulation at room temperature.
• Use level: Reconstituted aloe juice can replace some or all of the water in a formulation, up to 100% of the water phase if desired.
• Adding powder directly: The powder can also be added directly to the water phase. As a guide, 0.25% powder ≈ 50% aloe juice and 0.1% powder ≈ 20% aloe juice.

Formulating tip

Aloe contains electrolytes which can thin some carbomer gels. If your gel softens, consider using a more electrolyte-tolerant gelling agent such as xanthan gum, or adjust your polymer system.

Storage & preservation

• Powder: Keep tightly sealed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from light and moisture. The powder is heat-sensitive and moisture-absorbing and contains no added preservative.
• Shelf life: Three years unopened when stored appropriately.
• Reconstituted juice: Treat like fresh aloe juice. Preserve with your usual broad-spectrum system (e.g. Microcare DB as directed), or refrigerate and use promptly. Unpreserved juice is for immediate/short-term use only.
