Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
Baking soda is a multitasking powerhouse in natural skincare and household formulations. In bath bombs, it contributes to the signature fizzing reaction while also helping to soften the skin. It’s a popular ingredient in DIY deodorants, exfoliating scrubs, and gentle cleansers, thanks to its mild alkalinity and ability to neutralise odours.
In formulations, baking soda is sometimes used to help adjust and stabilise pH, particularly in water-based products where a slightly alkaline environment is required. While it’s not suitable for all skin types or every formula, when used carefully, it can help balance overly acidic preparations and maintain optimal product performance.
Also commonly used in eco-friendly cleaning products, from surface sprays to soft scouring pastes.
Aluminium free?
Yes. While some confusion exists due to the aluminium content in certain baking powders, pure baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) does not contain aluminium—ours included.
