Black pepper essential oil, certified organic

A warm, dry and spicy essential oil steam distilled from the dried berries of Piper nigrum. Certified organic by BioGro, it brings lift, warmth and subtle complexity to blends, and performs well in perfumery, soaps and home fragrance.

About the oil
Clear to pale yellow with a sharp, peppery opening that mellows to soft woody and faintly citrus facets. It sits as a middle note with moderate tenacity, helping bridge bright top notes and deeper base notes. Quality is influenced by cultivar, ripeness and careful drying of the peppercorns before distillation.

Aroma profile
Spicy, dry, peppery, with woody and lightly terpenic nuances. Pairs naturally with citrus, woods, resins and florals to add sparkle and depth.

Formulation notes
Black pepper is potent on skin. Use sparingly in leave-on products and always dilute in a carrier. Start low and build gradually to avoid a warming or tingling sensation. It disperses well in oils, but can thin soft balm textures, so adjust waxes if needed.

Blending ideas

  • Citrus spice: black pepper with bergamot and grapefruit for a bright kitchen or entry diffuser blend.
  • Wood spice: black pepper with frankincense and sandalwood for a calm, resinous accord.
  • Floral twist: a tiny amount with lavender or ylang ylang to add lift and interest.

  • 5ml and 20ml amber glass bottle, with 18 neck dripulator cap, either white or black cap.
  • 30ml, 50ml, 100ml, 250ml amber glass bottle, with 28 neck white dripulator cap (except for oils that are too thick for a dripulator, which have a black open pour cap).
  • Our bulk volumes of essential oils come in the following packaging
  • 500g and 1kg options come in an aluminium bottle.
  • 5L: PET white plastic jerrycan.
