Blue Mica
Blue mica is a bold pigment that produces shades from soft pale blue to vibrant royal blue, depending on usage. Its versatile shimmer makes it a favourite in eyeshadows, eyeliners, lip products, and highlighters, as well as in decorative swirls and accents in soapmaking.
Mica is a fine mineral powder that reflects light to create a pearlescent effect on the skin. It is produced by coating natural mica flakes with metal oxides such as titanium dioxide, iron oxide, or zirconium dioxide. The thickness of these oxide layers determines the final shade and luminosity.
Particle size also influences the finish: finer particles give a silky satin effect, while larger ones create more sparkle and shimmer. In clear M&P soap, Blue mica produces striking, pearlescent blues with real depth. In opaque soaps, the effect is softer but still gives beautiful results when swirled through or brushed onto the surface.
Our micas are mined under safe and ethical conditions, and are considered safe, non-toxic, and suitable for use in mineral makeup and cosmetics for the face, lips, and body.
