Our Liquid Castile Gel Soap is the latest innovation in our Castile soap range. It is thicker, more versatile, and ready for customisation. Handmade in Aotearoa using a traditional soap base enhanced with modern surfactant science, this base combines the gentle cleansing power of potassium olivate and potassium cocoate (anionic surfactants) with coco glucoside, a mild, non-ionic surfactant derived from coconut.

Unlike the original Castile soaps of centuries past, our formula includes coconut oil to complement the olive oil, boosting foaming and surfactant activity. This makes it especially effective for laundry and cleaning applications, while still remaining gentle enough for sensitive skin.

This gel base is ideal for small-scale producers and DIY formulators. Add up to 5% total of your chosen essential oils, extracts, or actives to create your own laundry liquids, shampoos, or body washes. It’s an economical base that doesn’t include expensive additives—giving you full control over your final formulation.

Start with a small test batch before scaling to ensure you’re happy with the viscosity. Some essential oils may thicken or thin the product.

Instructions for Use

• Use as-is for a premium liquid detergent or dilute with distilled water as needed
• Add essential oils at 0.5–1% (approx. 1–2 tsp per kilo of base)
• Slowly stir your additives into the base
• If diluting, thicken with a salt solution (test in small batches first)
