Patchouli essential oil, certified organic

Patchouli essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Pogostemon cablin, a fragrant herb known for its rich, earthy aroma. The oil has a distinctive depth that develops and mellows over time, a quality that has made patchouli a long-standing favourite in perfumery and traditional scenting applications.

Unlike many essential oils, patchouli is well known for improving with age, with its aroma becoming rounder and more complex as it matures. Historically, it has been used to scent textiles, inks and woven materials, and remains a staple base note in modern natural perfumery.

This certified organic patchouli oil has a medium to thick consistency and a warm, grounding scent with subtle fresh, fruit-like undertones. It works particularly well as a fixative in blends, helping anchor lighter top and middle notes.

How to use Patchouli Essential Oil

Perfumery & fragrance
Patchouli is widely used in natural perfumes, colognes, solid fragrances and oil blends. Its deep base note adds richness and longevity to compositions.

Aromatherapy & diffusion
Often chosen for its grounding, earthy aroma, patchouli is commonly diffused to create a calm, settled atmosphere.

Candles & home fragrance
A popular choice for candle making, wax melts, potpourri and sachets, where its scent carries well and blends beautifully with woods, resins and citrus oils.

Soapmaking & body products
Patchouli is frequently used in cold process soap and oil-based body products, where its aroma holds well through curing.

Linens & storage
A drop or two on a cotton ball placed in drawers or cupboards can add a subtle, lingering scent to fabrics.
