Vegetal – Ecocert Approved
A natural, plant-derived emulsifier that creates elegant oil-in-water creams and lotions. Vegetal forms liquid crystal (lamellar) emulsions that mimic the skin’s lipid layers, helping support moisture retention and enhance delivery of water-soluble actives.
Vegetal works across a wide pH range, provides excellent stability and ease of use, and leaves a soft, silky skin feel with minimal soaping.
Best suited for
- Lightweight facial creams & daily lotions
- Body lotions & milks
- Non-greasy, fast-absorbing textures
How to use
- Add to the heated oil phase
- Usage rate: 3–8 % (total formula)
- pH range: 3–12
- Pair with a fatty alcohol (e.g. Cetyl Alcohol or Cetearyl Alcohol) to increase viscosity and richness if desired
Formulation notes / Compatibility
- Compatible with most vegetable oils, esters, butters, and humectants
- Works well alongside common thickeners (e.g. Xanthan Gum, Carbomer alternatives) for added structure
- Typical process: Heat oil & water phases separately, combine under shear, cool with continued mixing, then add heat-sensitive ingredients in the cool-down phase
