Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Glucoside)
Ascorbyl glucoside is a stable, water-soluble vitamin C derivative commonly used in cosmetic formulations. Compared with pure ascorbic acid, it offers improved stability and ease of formulation, making it a popular choice for products intended to deliver the benefits associated with vitamin C without the challenges of rapid oxidation.
In skincare formulations, ascorbyl glucoside is valued for its antioxidant properties and its role in promoting a brighter, more even-looking complexion. It is often included in serums, lotions, creams, and toners designed to support skin clarity and overall appearance.
Ascorbyl glucoside is also known for its good skin tolerance and compatibility with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients, including other antioxidants and hydrating actives. This makes it particularly suitable for multi-active formulations and products intended for regular use.
Formulation notes
- Ascorbyl glucoside is water soluble and should be added to the water phase of formulations.
- For best stability, it is typically added during the cool-down phase (below 40°C).
- Works best in formulations with a final pH between 5.0 and 7.0, ideally around 6.5–6.8.
- Suitable for use alongside many common skincare ingredients, including antioxidants and humectants.
