Balancing Cream Cleanser Formula

Ingredients

Makes 200g - Adjust batch volume with Go Native NZ’s Batch Size Calculator

Phase A

Phase B

Phase C

Method

  1. In separate pots heat both Phase A and Phase B to 65°C. (Make sure the emulsifier in the Phase B is completely melted, Phase B may heat faster and need to be taken off the heat to cool to 65°C while Phase A catches up.)
  2. When both are at 65°C, pour Phase B into Phase A and blend with stick blender until thickened.
  3. Let cool to 40°C then add Phase C and blend again.
  4. Tare an empty jug or pot on scales and put your finished cream into it. It will have lost water weigh, add more water to bring it up to final weight. In this case 200g. Then blend again.
  5. Check/adjust pH to 5 - 5.5 See our pH testing - why & how we do it blog post for more info.
  6. Pour into 250ml  Amber glass bottle with a Lotion pump while still warm, before it thickens too much.

Substitutions

  • You can substitute the lavender hydrosol for another hydrosol or more water.
  • You can substitute the carrier oils for other carrier oils, though this can change the final colour and/or feel of the finished product.
  • You can replace the essential oils with different essential oils or leave it unfragranced.

To Use

  • Massage onto skin and polish with a damp muslin face cloth or flannel.

Note

  • A lotion pump bottle is optional but it's really handy for ease of use, and helps lower the risk of water droplets getting into your oil during use.
  • A handy tip is; Pre-measure your Phase C ingredients into a beaker or dish so that it's ready to go
  • The video tutorial below contains old volumes of ingredients in this recipe. The volumes have been updated since the making of this video. Please refer to the listed amounts rather than the video.
