Magnesium hydroxide is commonly used in natural deodorant formulations due to its ability to help manage odour without blocking perspiration.
It is an alkaline mineral compound, which contrasts with the skin’s naturally acidic environment. This makes it useful in deodorants, as it helps create conditions that are less favourable for odour-causing bacteria on the skin’s surface.
Sweat itself is odourless. Body odour develops when bacteria break down components of sweat. Unlike antiperspirants, which aim to stop sweating, deodorants formulated with magnesium hydroxide are designed to help reduce odour while still allowing the skin to function naturally.
Our magnesium hydroxide is USP grade and is produced from naturally occurring magnesium sourced from seawater, using calcium hydroxide derived from limestone as part of the precipitation process. The finished product is manufactured in Japan and refined to meet USP purity standards.
