Squalane - Olive
Squalane is a stable, lightweight oil derived from olives. Naturally present in human sebum in its original form as squalene, it plays an important role in maintaining skin softness and suppleness. Because squalene is highly unstable and prone to oxidation, it is converted through hydrogenation into squalane, a fully saturated oil with a much longer shelf life, while retaining its moisturising properties.
Olive-derived squalane is widely used in modern skincare formulations for its clean, refined profile and ease of use. This latest batch is a high-purity squalane, offering excellent stability and a smooth, elegant skin feel.
It is:
- Fast-absorbing with a non-greasy finish
- Non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores
- Suitable for most skin types, including dry, sensitive, and oily skin
- Lightweight, while helping to maintain skin hydration and softness
Its olive origin also makes it a plant-based alternative to squalane once commonly sourced from shark liver.
How to use
Squalane can be applied directly to the skin as a facial oil, used under makeup as a smooth, lightweight base, or incorporated into creams, lotions, and serums to improve texture and spreadability. It blends easily with other oils and actives, making it a versatile addition to a wide range of cosmetic formulations.
